Kim Bain-Moore to Compete in Bassmaster Classic
For the first time in history, a woman, Kim Bain-Moore will compete in the Bassmaster Classic, deemed the "Super Bowl" of bass fishing. The Australian born Bain-Moore is the grand champion of the women's circuit. She captured the Toyota Tundra Women's Bassmaster Angler of the Year Cup on the Women's Bassmaster Tour, which was presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors.

The upcoming Bassmaster Classic is one of the most prestigious fishing tournaments in the world, as 51 world-class anglers will vie for bass fishing's top event. The Classic will be held on the Red River out of Shreveport, Louisiana. Its slated for February 20th through 22nd, 2009.
Bain-Moore's parents fished competitively and, apparently, she took up the family tradition. Its been her dream to cast her fishing line alongside men for the 500-thousand dollar prize. Of course, being the first woman to compete in the tournament, its not completely without some controversy. Can a woman hold her own against the "Old Boy's Club? Well, THIS reporter thinks so!
She's up against some big-name anglers, too! As I mentioned, 51 anglers in this year's Classic, including 36 from the top BASS circuit (Elite Series); 6 from the BASS Opens (both pros and amateurs). 6 from the BASS Federation Nation (amateurs); and one from the Weekend Series (amateur).
